At District 56 Toastmasters, we recognize and honor the dedicated leaders who have contributed to the growth and success of our members and clubs. Our dignitary list celebrates individuals who have demonstrated commitment, service, and excellence in leadership within our district and beyond.
Your journey as a Toastmaster is one of continuous learning and achievement. If you recently earned or updated your Toastmaster designation, please email your information to our District Administration Manager at [email protected] so you are properly recognized.
In Toastmasters, a “dignitary” generally refers to individuals of high rank or importance, often visiting a Toastmasters event. This could include international officers, district officers, or even non-Toastmasters guests such as government officials or prominent community members. Introductions of dignitaries, particularly non-Toastmasters, typically precede the introduction of Toastmasters officers.
Key aspects of introducing dignitaries in Toastmasters:
To acknowledge and honor the presence of distinguished guests, showing respect for their time and contributions.
Introductions are usually done by the Contest Chair or the Sergeant at Arms (SAA), often during the contest briefing or before the contest begins.
Non-Toastmasters dignitaries are introduced first, followed by Toastmasters officers in a specific order (e.g., International officers, then District officers).
It’s crucial to confirm the correct titles and names of dignitaries before the introduction.
Use clear and concise language when introducing dignitaries, ensuring everyone understands their roles and affiliations.
The introduction should be respectful and appreciative of the dignitary’s presence.
It is important to confirm the attendance of dignitaries beforehand, especially if they are invited guests.
Dignitaries could be International President, District Director, or even a city mayor. For example, District Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Jocelyn V. Williams.
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development with more than 345,000 members.
District 56 Toastmasters is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people become better communicators and leaders.
District 56 became the second Toastmasters district in Texas on July 1, 1957, as a result of a split with District 25.
