DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:  Earlier this year Spaced Out Toastmasters conducted a panel discussion to share tips, techniques and strategies for creating impact in both virtual and in-person presentations. Through clips from a recording of this meeting and real-time interactive conversations, Andrea Tantillo, DTM, will share these ideas. Participants in this workshop will be able to share their own stories and tips and think about what practices transfer from in-person to virtual and which ones need adjusting.

WHAT WILL ATTENDEES LEARN:  When you speak, you want your audience to do something—take an action, change their minds, feel or react a certain way, or simply connect with you. Successful speakers do this by creating impact for their audiences. In this online learning elective we’ll go beyond vocal variety, eye contact, and body language and discuss real-world examples of creating impact shared by four distinguished Toastmasters at varying stages in their speaking and leadership paths. Plus, you’ll be invited to share your tips and experiences in creating impact and connecting with your audiences.

LEVEL:  For All

Learning Objective 1: Participants will discuss techniques for creating impact in an online  environment.
Learning Objective 2: Participants will compare strategies for connecting with audiences in virtual and in-person presentations.
Learning Objective 3: Participants will evaluate their own ways to create impact and connect with audiences in both virtual and in-person settings.

ABOUT Andrea Tantillo, DTM:  Andrea joined Toastmasters in February 2016. She is a Distinguished Toastmaster and has completed all the projects but one in two paths—she needs to reflect on the paths and mark them complete! Toastmaster Tantillo is the VPPR for Spaced Out Toastmasters and a member and club sponsor for Timmons Talkers Toastmasters. She has served in various club leadership roles and co-chaired the Toastmasters District 56 Spring Conference in 2018. She holds a Master of Science in Strategic Communications from Purdue University and is a Senior Communications Coordinator at the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
